Dear Cudos community, 💙
In the interest of transparency, we’d like to update you on our circulating supply figure, on any discrepancy you may have noticed related to our token release schedule and related whitepaper, and to inform you on some upcoming token movements and why we’re doing them.
CUDOS has a 10 year release schedule, with a constantly reducing inflation, with the following distribution:
34% of the total supply is for ecosystem, community development and staking rewards
31.63% is a reserve of tokens, to support various activities described in the whitepaper such as listings on exchanges and adding liquidity to decentralised exchanges
20% is the team’s allocation
9.37% was used for private sale and the primary listing of the token
5% is for advisors
Part of the release and minting of the tokens is automatic for areas such as block rewards. There are other areas which are transferred manually such as the team tokens on 3 year vesting, reserves for exchanges, etc. Last year’s tokens which were not transferred have been batched up and will be transferred now to better support our community of validators in this bear market. We also have a number of well known validators from the Cosmos ecosystem in the pipeline who will each receive additional delegations, plus there are additional reserves being kept in place to support more validators in the near future. This means that there will soon be a transfer of around 950 million tokens to support the network of validators now and in the future. These tokens are being used for delegations and are not being added to the general market.
Post the transfer they will make up around 18.7% of the total supply. So the CUDOS circulating supply will increase by this amount, moving it from the current ~4.1 billion to 5 billion. This matches the token schedule release detailed in the whitepaper. The vast majority of these tokens will be delegated to existing validators in our network, in order to strengthen them, and the majority of the rest will be used to help and support new validators currently onboarding onto the network. You may also see the inflation in our explorer increasing to a high number for a short period of time as this recalculates.
We would like to use this opportunity to share with you that the Cudos team has been very busy building over the last few months, and as a result we are rolling out our latest additional platforms and services very soon, which will substantially increase the utility and usage of the network including: blockchain compute and the first of the tokenised infrastructure platforms, Aura Pool, which has just been announced. As well as this, there is a substantial pipeline of enterprise users being onboarded onto the compute platform in the coming months. 🚀
